About
Kim Ballantine’s Story
I am a passionate wife, a mother, and a Gogo, as well as a motivational speaker, writer, life and business coach with a focus on mental wellbeing dedicated to helping you become the person you most want to be
For many years I worked as an industrial and research psychologist consulting to some of the top manufacturing businesses in South Africa on International Best Practice. At 40 my husband brought me breakfast in bed wearing nothing more than an apron. My naked chef left me speechless. Within a month I was diagnosed with spasmodic dysphonia, severe laryngeal spasms and told I would never speak again. I wrote on a piece of paper: “I will speak again. You don’t know how big my God is, how determined I am and one day I will have a story to share”.
During my 12-year journey from voice loss and cancer to full recovery I found my voice in writing, capturing moments, emotions and incidents which have now given rise to my first book, ‘Hot Tea and Apricots’, soon to be published, and opportunities for motivational speaking.
I re-trained as a Professional Business and Life Coach, am part of Camber Coaching Pty (Ltd) and often draw of my journey of loss, hope and choice to assist others.
During Covid-19 I assisted in founding the Mental Wellness Initiative whose aim is to make mental wellness a policy and intervention priority for the public, private and civil society sectors.
I’d love to hear from you.
